Max is a geologist with a background in igneous petrology and geochemistry. Prior to joining the BGS, he investigated the magmatic processes involved in the formation of new oceanic crust at mid-ocean ridges by studying their on-land analogues known as ophiolites. At the BGS, he will be involved in mapping projects in Wales and the rest of the UK.
