Research interests
- Water resources in Africa and Asia – recharge, water quality, impacts from agricultural activities
- Water management (especially in developing countries), waster scarcity issues and groundwater drought
- Surface water-groundwater interactions and hyporheic zone processes
- Tracer tests
Current projects and collaborations
- : Understand impacts of conservation agriculture on soil and water in southern Africa (Supported by GCRF)
- The European Groundwater Drought Initiative (GDI) : Assessment and modelling groundwater drought across Europe, investigate the impacts of groundwater drought, and build a community to grow our understanding of groundwater drought (NERC-funded)
- contribution: Groundwater recharge processes and urban surface water-groundwater interactions in Bangalore, India (Newton-Babba funded)
- Study of the hyporheic zone in areas of groundwater-surface water connectivity in the Skerne Catchment. EA-BGS collaboration
